The Real Nappy Network has set up a number of nappy loan projects in areas that have been identified as predominantly low income. It would seem that the initial financial outlay required to purchase a stock of washable nappies is beyond the means of many families on a low income and this may prevent them from having the choice to use washable nappies. Nappies are available for loan to families on a low income for a minimal fee and deposit (usually £20 with £10 of that a refundable deposit on return of the nappies). A full nappy kit is available from birth to potty. Returned nappies will be laundered and sanitised ready for use by another family. Loan schemes are operational in the following areas:
